There are many questions students should ask before deciding to enroll in IPMP program(s). Prospective students need to determine their level of readiness for study before they enter into IPMP Program. Specific areas of weakness and strength may then be easily addressed and academic success assured. Below are some of the standard questions that our new members will obviously ask about the Institute of Project Management Professionals and membership.

How long before I receive my official certificate?

A certificate processing normally takes a minimum of 6 – 8 weeks. You receive handsome membership document along with the certification document that you have been qualified and approved to receive.

When can I start to use my designation?

Immediately after approval, IPMP applicants receive confirmation of the acceptance of your membership or you have successfully registered for certification after completing a qualified and recognized Executive Training and having passed the Program examination.

How is the IPMP structured?

The IPMP is a Professional Body governed by Board of Trustee and a Membership Status of ethics and standards of practice. IPMP operates globally as a society or non-profit Association, with the members of the Executive Board making up the “Council Board”. At all times, the IPMP and the good standing members is subject to laws of the land and to policies of the Board of Standards of IPMP and Professional Bodies Regulation 1973 (NRCD 143) . The academy’s authority and certifications are structurally based to the dictates of the Ghana Professional Bodies Degree and policy of the IPMP marks in respect to its members.

What are the benefits of being member of IPMP?

The key benefit for certification holders is obviously the ability to add a professional designation and post nominal to your list of resume qualifications and display this on your business card, letter head, email signature, CV etc. For most individuals certification is one of the key drivers of membership and the pursuit of higher education through the IPMP accepted programs. However, other key benefits exist such as:

How well accepted is IPMP Professional Distance Education?

Distance-learning is clearly an accepted form of cost-effective education for working professionals. The growth and importance of the Internet is furthering the distance-learning concept daily and making independent study education accessible to more and more individuals. Employers are aware of the fact that attending a classroom university is not possible for a significant number of their workforce, yet they recognize the corporate benefits that a career-related degree program can bring to their employees.

Can an IPMP student participate in the program online via internet?

Yes. Upon registration students are given access to their Online Books. Here students can Access Instructions and formats for orientation courses, Keep a calendar of assignments with planned completion dates, Upload/Post assignments, Review Grades/Transcripts, Post Questions or Messages with Student Services and/or your advisor, Start the first phase of the program to establish the program curriculum. This is a quick and convenient way to begin your research in any topic or area from your curriculum.

What is the difference between Members in Professional Education and Students at Traditional Universities?

Institute of Project Management Professionals programs are oriented toward the mid-career adult and working professional. Conversely, classroom universities are attracting the 18 to 21-year olds whose life goals and ambitions have yet to be established. This is true especially at the undergraduate level. IPMP does no compete with such Traditional Universities. IPMP Students Members know who they are, know exactly what they want to do and are interested in a challenging and rewarding professional experience. For this reason, they are often more motivated than students at traditional universities. In addition, IPMP students gain significant advantages from their professional experience. Not only are they able to draw from the knowledge they have developed throughout their career thus far, but they may apply earned credit for what they have already learned toward their program.

Will my Professional Diploma Mention that I gained it through Professional Distance Education?

No mention of the words “equivalency,” “non-traditional,” “distance learning,” “online” or any similar expression will appear on your Professional Diploma Certifications, your academic record or any other documents you receive from IPMP are the same standard used by all colleges, universities and Professional Bodies.

How long will my program take to complete?

Program duration varies greatly due to the different goals and entry levels of our students. In general each course will take 18 months for Professional Post Graduate and 15 months for Doctoral Fellow. IPMP students are required to have prior work experience in their field of Project Management, Financial Engineering, Procurement Engineering & Economics or a related field, most also have college credits or training above their last level of study. The number of courses required for each level is 6 or 7 courses.

Are the Professional Diplomas accepted at Traditional Universities?

Traditional Universities Evaluate transfer credits on a case-by-case basis. Some other colleges are very open to accepting credits from Professionals Bodies, some are very restrictive, but as IPMP is a Professional Body Registered under the Professional Body Regulation Act (NRCD 143) of Ghana, that only makes its acceptance in the world by the universities and colleges

What are Life Experience, Academic Status, and Prior Learning Assessment?

Life Experience, Academic Status, Prior Learning Assessment relate to credit for learning related to Institute of Project Management Professionals professional diploma programs, regardless of where or how the learning occurred. Life Experience, Academic Status, and Prior Learning Assessment are based on a tested process and set of mechanisms. Its major goal is to determine the students correct academic standing. It achieves this goal through the recognition of learning that students have acquired from life experience, job training, workshops, seminars or other experience. Several methods may be used to evaluate learning related to IPMP Diploma. Challenge for Credit towards a specific course (test). Portfolio Assessment to receive credit towards a diploma program. Assessment of training packages from employers, private trainers, unions and other institutions. Student Services handles credits transferred from post-secondary educational institutions such as colleges or universities

Can International Members enroll in IPMP program?

Adult learners from around the world may enroll in all Professional Diploma programs. Please review the admissions requirements to see if you qualify.

Is IPMP Regulatory Professional Body?

The Institute of Project Management Professionals (IPMP) is a Licensing and Regulatory Professional Body. IPMP is incorporated under the Companies Code, 1963 (Act 179) as a private Company limited by guarantee, duly registered as a Professional Body in accordance with the provisions of the Professional Bodies Registration Decree, 1973 (NRCD 143) as Chartered Project Management Institute (CPMI) to train professionals in project management with Professional Bodies Registration File Number PB. 68

Is there an application deadline?

Institute of Project Management Professionals (IPMP) maintains a year round admissions process. The individual pace nature of our academic programs allows us to begin a new student in three times during the year.
